The United States of America was the product of philosophy and politics. It was inspired by a philosophy of equality and freedom. This section--"inalienable Rights"--is about that philosophy. We can take the discussion back to Aristotle if we like. Most of the founding fathers had received a formal education which required a familiarity with the Greeks. Their biggest influences were English and European philosophers of the 17th and 18th century.
